Has anyone read serial data from lcrx on an arduino? i am trying to read on a software serial port and it keeps getting data even when not sending anything on remote...and it seems its always 11111111
The serial data is constantly sending idle commands when there is no active command. Also, TMCC/Legacy commands are repeated a number of times to minimize the possibility of a missed command since TMCC/Legacy is a one-way system with no acknowledgement. The bit rate coming from the LCRX (or any TMCC/Legacy serial data output is 3030 BPS, not your expected 9600 or 19200 data rate. Also, the address data is not included in the data stream as the address has already been decoded by the TMCC receiver or you wouldn't see the data in the output serial data from the TMCC receiver.
I dont see any change tho...when i attach the serial wire it just keeps repeating and then if i send commands with remote nothing changes...it just keeps repeating same data...i would expect to just see a data change as a first step...no?
If you're sampling at the wrong bit rate, there's no telling what you'll receive. Trust me, I've looked at this data on my 'scope and it changes when there's an active command. First step is to set the serial data rate to 3030 BPS.
You need the ground reference for the serial data, that's for sure. Now, you may run into a problem if the LCRX frame ground isn't isolated totally from the DC ground of the Arduino, something to consider.
