My friends and I are planning on putting together a temporary layout for a little train show in Pennsylvania in the Summer. It's going to be about 8'x 16' feet and feature Lionel Fastrack assembled on four 4' x 8' tables.
I thought greatly about covering the top of the tables with some carpet, which will not only reduce the noise the trains make, but also cover the look of the tables and the edges where they butt up against each other. Not to mention the unsightly wires for the trains and accessories.
I've seen quite a few people use different types of carpeting, both for permanent and temporary layouts, but not sure where to start looking. I was thinking of using a dark blue-green carpet like TM Books & Video used for their videos in the late 90's because I really like the look of it:
I'm not looking to spend much money since it'll be a temporary thing, but please let me know what you'd recommend for an example like this.
