I took these photos in 2005 at Macy's Herald Square store on 34th St. in Manhattan.

Why does 2005 seem like a lifetime ago in the toy train hobby? I guess things were pretty good back then for toy trains wise verses how everything is now.
Very nice Skip! You don't happen to have any photos of the train displays at FAO Schwartz?

That display had to sell dome trains. I hope they had plenty of starter sets on display for sale.
I went there in 2004 which was my first time back to New York since I was a kid. Took my 2 young sons for a weekend trip on the Acela from Baltimore. I have the MTH Macy Box car from then as well.
Skip, where was this display located in Macy’s? I’m assuming it was seasonal.

The only explanation that I can provide is that a joint venture between Macy's and MTH must be profitable for both sides. Macy's floor space is allocated to the products that produce the highest sales/profit. Model trains may no longer be one of them. It was always nice to see model trains at Santa Land and in the toy department but today is a different time. IMO, most of the money is now made by taking pictures with Santa for which there is now eight of them.
