I have 2 of Tim Foley's Mianne Lift Bridges on my layout and just love them.  Talking to Tim at the April York I was asking whether he had a scheme for a 2nd switch on the other side of the bridge to drop the bridge when you get inside the layout.  He mentioned 1 customer was using a remote for his.  Do any of you that have Mianne Lift bridges have a dual switch set up (inside and outside of the bridge), or use a remote?  If so how do you do this?  Or if you are electrically inclined and know the answer please chime in.

Thanks for your help and expertise.

Greg, likewise.  I love meeting people that I've only seen on the web, really makes a huge difference.

I suspect I'd have to actually see what's in side that remote control handle to do this.  I'm sure that a couple of 10A or better DPDT relays would do the switching, and it might be simpler.  This is one of those things that's easy in person, but pretty difficult on the web.

Thanks all, the video from Sean's Train Channel shows it well (Thanks MrMOE50).  Sean does a nice job tapping into the existing wiring on the hoist controls.  If anyone takes a look at the video can they tell me what the gray cylinder (looks like some form of ballast) is in the yellow wired remote?  I welcome other ideas as well if there are others.

I did the same as what Mark suggested with my Mainne lift bridge.  I disassembled the controller and kept the ballast but then wired two dpdt, spring loaded switches from the original switch wiring and mounted them on either side of the bridge.  Works perfectly.

You can see one of the switches if you look closely under the "Lionel Trains" sign.IMG_1140
