Repainting MTH

Just remembered today that B&O 208 I hope to model was built with the short stack later extended by the railroad, not the conical stack that came with my model. So I need to change that before moving on to painting.  I had access to the former 208 earlier today, but didn't think of this until on the drive home, so will measure the stack next time. Meanwhile, I've ordered info from the B&ORRHS on B&O diesel painting schemes.

Anyone have experience with Tru Color BANDO blue?

I have not been back to the RR to measure the stack on the former 208 yet, and have also not yet received the material I ordered on paint schemes.  I did review an article we published in the Sentinel about the SW-1 that said sources differ over whether they were delivered in black or dark blue in 1940. I'm not too worried about that as I'm seeking an early 50s appearance. Thus, it sits on the bench for now.

The good news: I measured and photographed the stack on the former 208.  The bad news: my initial delivery from the B&ORRHS did not include the item on painting Diesel engines. I suspect it needs to be scanned. Next step: fabricate a new stack and replace the stock conical one.

I got a scan of the original B&O painting and lettering diagram for the SW-1 today from the B&ORRHS. I started fabricating the stack. I soldered a ring of .020" brass wire around 3/16" brass tube.  I also scribed a line on the tube to represent the seam as the original was rolled from sheet. I tried scribing points to represent the four flat rivets, but wasn't successful and am going to pass on that. I think putty is the best option for the cone at the bottom of the stack. I think I need a fresh tube. I also ordered accurate B&O decals from Ed Sauers. Still researching the best blue paint. I have a question out to Tru-Color.
