I'm in the process of evaluating an old Menards Vetter Sash & Window Company building, and have discovered the vent fan animation no longer works -- the motor is clearly running, and the two visible 'fans' occasionally move slightly, but something (I'm assuming the gearbox) is clearly amiss. The problem is that the motor, gearbox and all associated wiring is completely encased in a wooden tongue-and-slot enclosure deep in the structure, and not accessible without taking the whole structure apart.
The enclosure (and, as best I can determine, the rest of the building) seems firmly glued together, and I'm reluctant to start breaking it apart, in an attempt to get to and hopefully repair the fault. Has anyone worked on one of these, and is there any less destructive way to get to the fan animation mechanism? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!
