Have a Pride Lines Mickey Mouse Locomotive with a stripped drive gear.

sent a post awhile back looking for help to replace it.

sent emails to two people whos info I received here on the forum.

No answers to emails and no luck finding new parts.

Anybody try making new parts?? Its a plastic gear and If I take the

gear off the locomotive, is there anybody that could make a new one??

Thanks

This is kind of a last resort, but it is a possibility.  If the gears are a standard or metric pitch, you may be able to find a workable replacement at SDP-SI.  You will need to identify the pitch as well as the number of teeth.  Machine work may be necessary to mate the gear to the shaft.  These are industrial gears, so be forewarned they aren't cheap... but they will likely last a lifetime.  I have bought a few gears from them for train projects over the years.  I was on the website just yesterday trying to find the right gears for a long overdue clockwork train repair.

Hope that helps; good luck!

I have found gears by looking in the R/C section of hobby shops. The radio control car guys use a lot of different gears to make their cars go. I even found a metal replacement for the nylon gear in the 1957 Thunderbird radio that always gets stripped. That was like pulling a rabbit out of the hat, for sure!
