I just purchased a 2065 online and it is missing the ornamental whistle on the boiler. I have found a replacement whistle but I'm not sure how to remove the stump of the broken one that is still in the boiler. If it isn't removable I might be able to obtain a complete boiler, the only difference between it and the replacement whistle is the cost.

i'm not totally familiar with that particular loco body, but does the whistle extend all the way through the shell? If it does, and it has been staked on the inside to keep it in place, you can use a small grinding wheel on a dremel, and grind it down, and then use a small enough punch, to drive it out. As far as replacing it with a new one, you can super glue or JB Weld the new one in place.
I have been restoring Prewar 1688/1688E locos, and strip the paint, prime, and repaint them the appropriate colors. I take the Sand dome, Safety valves, and all the nickel trim off before stripping. I use the dremel with a grinding wheel from underneath to get the dome and valves out, and JB Weld them from underneath when I reassemble. Just a thought.
Remove the shell from the chassis and use a small drift pin or punch to drive the broken post out from the inside. The whistle post is knurled IIRC.
Thanks for the advice gentlemen! I am out of town and won't be home to go disassemble the locomotive for a few days. I will be sure to give an update when I get it apart!
Knock it out partway, then use plyers to pull it out.
My apologies for such a late update. I just got around to knocking out the old whistle and installing the replacement last night. The new one was surprisingly a snug fit and didn't require any adhesives to keep it in place! I am very satisfied with how it turned out! I've attached a photo of the end result below.
