I’ve been out of the repair part of the hobby for about 3 years now due to my retiring, and moving half way across the country. I brought a lot of stuff with me. I’ve spent the last year knocking out the AF S gauge stuff. As was alway typical, parts vendors were less in number than Lionel parts vendors.

I’m now getting into my Lionel stuff. I like the prewar stuff the best. So I’m starting to work on a few prewar items. I’m in need of parts. Long ago I used to use Al Francheschetti, but he has passed away. I also used George Tbolt, but know that last time I chatted with him he was retiring, and sadly, has recently passed. I found and use Jeff Kane as an excellent source of parts. But Jeff doesn’t stock everything known to man. I know of The Train Doctor aka Brasseurs and Hennings. Are there any other large parts dealers out there who deal with prewar Lionel?

also, is there any dealer who sells Toy Train Enamel paint or does one have to order snail mail from Charlie Wood?

thanks

Smitty and Dennis Waldron are also gone. S and W Parts Supply and Dr. Tinker in Lexington, MA are the other two names that come to mind.  Trainz has parts, but there list is hard to use and is not very accurate. The MTH tinplate line had parts, but I do not think that operation has opened up again.  Parts for pre and post war equipment are getting hard to find.

David Laughridge, aka Dr. tinker, is very much still in business.  I have the good fortune to be a 15 minute drive from him.  He has an amazing parts assortment including a lot of prewar.  But be sure you can describe what you want accurately if you contact him.

I was looking for hook couplers for an Ives 50, 51 baggage and chair car.  He pulled out a bin of a few dozen Lionel hook couplers and I found an exact match for those Ives couplers.

You can find him at http://drtinkertrains.com/
