Thanks for posting this. There are some great pictures there. I was especially pleased to see 'Britannia' in steam. (Even if she was wearing an odd lamp code.) I've always loved that engine.

The story and pictures really make me want to visit England and not just for the trains.

Time has been very kind in the sense that it seems like every picture is a postcard with few "modern" upgrades like we have here in the US. The picturesque areas we have here always get ruined with security fences, signs, "new and better buildings" (read ugly) and just very little sense for history preservation.

In any case, thanks for sharing.
