In this 1926 Ives 3236R standard gauge loco that I purchased on eBay, I was surprised to find what looks like a Lionel e-unit.  My first thought was that someone before me replaced the original Ives reversing unit, especially since the disconnect lever on the back of the e-unit has been chopped off to make it fit  On the other hand the wiring looks original and a little research revealed that Lionel ultimately adopted the e-unit design pioneered by Ives.  Do you think this e-unit is the original Ives model or a later Lionel replacement?
