A Rich-Art "Cascade" (i.e. a tinplate Bi-Polar) just went up for sale on the Bay. The interesting thing is, it's BLUE. Actually two-tone blue with a maroon stripe. I've seen several of these, in both 0 and Standard Gauge, and they were all variations on orange or maroon and orange. Anybody know anything about these being painted blue by Rich-Art?

They certainly were.  I miss them and their fantastic tinplate trains.  Their passing was certainly a great loss to all lovers of tinplate.

That Milwaukee Road BLUE bipolar is certainly unique!  Not very prototypical but clearly high quality and attractive.  It just goes to show what lengths Dick and Butch were willing to go to custom paint their products to suit the desires of their customers.  I personally benefited from their willingness to go the extra mile several times including when Dick custom painted for me an O gauge BiPolar in the Milwaukee Road's version of the UP's livery.  See photo below of Dick in his shop showing off to Butch for a pre-delivery photo, the custom painted O gauge BiPolar he built for me.  You can tell from the photo that Dick is proud of his work!

Great guys!
