Hello all,

I know this topic has most likely been beaten to death and then some.  I am looking for information on the Right of Way / 3rd rail #6 Shay.  From what I have found out to date, according to Scott Mann At 3rd rail, his father got them from the builder in Korea. right of way then went out of business before they could be imported.  One of many questions is:

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or anything like a manual?  According to Scott there is no manual for it.

Also Scott stated that approximately 150 of them where made.  He didn't provide a number that his father purchased from the builder at that time.

I am looking for any and all information on this, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone know of an extremely reliable installer, I would like to have this up-graded to DCS proto 3 in the very near future.

I have one, one of the very few locomotives that I have retained. I had my model up-graded by Davis Electronics (in Ohio), many years ago. They did a very nice job, however they had to change-out the huge can motor, and install a slightly smaller can motor with a flywheel, in order to up-grade to DCS. The original motor was simply too large to add a flywheel. The model runs great, and even with a slightly smaller motor, still pulls nicely, even though a Shay is a slow runner anyway. The detail on the model is also VERY good.

For what it's worth, the WM "Fireball" emblem and striping are not prototypical for when the locomotive was in regular service. That said, when the real locomotive was run under her own power to the B&O Museum, she was indeed painted as shown in your photos.

I remember when when #6 was moved to then B&O museum. If left Hagerstown under its own power. I also recall when it left the museum for cass. They had to move it out using compressed air. And then slowly walking up the line stopping every so often to oil it. 

I am quite familiar with this engine having grown up around it over time. Also when it was delivered it was painted black with western Maryland on the tender without the fireball and the running boards did not have the white edging. The with edging was added as a last minute before the picture was taken.
