I got my AK engine down off the shelf and put it on my main line and it won't run. Checked (white) battery = 9.6V. Tried Remote Commander, no dice. Tried DCS, no dice I downloaded manual (dated 201) (assuming it's the correct one; shows engine 2409 which is mine). There is no mention of a battery in the manual, just LocoSound. Is there an appropriate (Protosound or PSd 2 manual available for this engine? Any suggestions to get this thing running?

There are several F40PH Alaska engines listed, what it the exact product number of your locomotive?
Wally, time for a new battery... the white ones are just too old. Yep Happy trails ...
I put in a BCR capacitor and left it power up for 2-3 minutes; still nothing. Since this is a 2001 R-T-R engine out of a set (I do not seem to have the box), engine #2409, is this necessarily PSd-2? and does that matter? Fried board? Other ideas? Thanks.

Sounds like board failure. Needs upgrade to PS-32.
