Coming from Lionel O guage and thinking about S....can S engines go on a straight track..into a reverse loop and back onto the straight again with out any fancy wiring ??? all I know is Lionel..so cut the rookie some slack ..LOL .and thanks

No.
no you have to use a spdt switch or circuit
Can it be done ??????
Can what be done?
Hi, I use "American Model Distributors" circuit board PSX-AR-AC on all turntables I manufacture if the customer has a 2 rail layout. This company has boards for AC, DCS or DCC powered layouts. Thanks, Dave
Thanks
Another Question...with Lionel and MTH coming out with proto and legacy S engines....is polarity still an issue on a reverse loop ???
Yes.
Do most S layouts avoid the reverse loop and just have the train go the one direction ??
Either direction, avoid the loop.
Thanks
Hi Nessmuck,
Flyin-High suggested a circuit board to help you out. Here is the link to the website for the board. Before you give up, you might want to take a look. It sounds like they might have a solution to what you want to do. As Flyin-High suggested it's the PSX-AR-AC board for two rail AC.

Makes no real difference what "most S layouts" have. The question should be what do you want for your layout? If you want a reverse loop, there is no reason not to have one. Yes, it will take some extra wiring and maybe a toggle switch or a solid state device. But it is not hard and anyone can do it if they read a book or magazine article or seek advice on the Internet. A bit of education comes first, then the hardware. I would suggest that you go down that path if a reverse loop is what you really want. The goal is to have fun with the hobby. Good luck.....Ed L.
