I'm starting to play around with my new video camera, so here's a test video,  This is only a test:

I'm not sure where :I'm going to go with this stuff, I've got to figure out this camera and the editing software before I can do anything really constructive.

Rusty,

I tried your video. I had sound but no picture. I am not very experienced doing this either but I commend you for trying. I really like to see it because the sound was great.

Don, try clicking on the attachment in the blue box under the original post.  It might show up then.  That's how a couple of other folks video's acted on my computer at work.

These directly uploaded videos (the Forum doesn't like video's from my cell phone for some reason) seem to get funky sometimes and it can sometimes depend on you browser and/or operating system.

Rusty, The video looks great. I don't know if you are using Apple or Microsoft but Windows movie maker is pretty nice to work with. The guy in Badgerland  that does our videos uses it and has great results.

Thanks Ray.  This is the first time I got to play with the camera since getting it a month ago.

Right now I'm playing with the PIXELA software that came with the camera and I'm less than impressed.  I should have program that came with my previous PC lying around somewhere that was far more intuitive and had more features to work with.  It's still early days and I've got other things to distract me from seriously fooling around with this stuff.  I'm a long way away from opening a YouTube account

Here's another outtake from yesterday's shoot:

I am also looking to change out my You Tube camera. Can you tell us about your new camera. Brand name, model & category?  I published this video two days ago, can you spot the issue?  Most common issue with You Tube videos, it is not stabilization.

Clue - Most talk about issue at You Tube  seminars as related to the camera, not lighting.

Take a guess  /  Than if you want we can all talk about this issue.

Sure, it's a Canon VIXIA HF G20, (left) a far cry from my earlier 8mm video cameras, both Sony's:

The G20's got all sorts of features that I've yet to comprehend and probably won't use much.

Hi Rusty,

I tried the video on my Windows 7 PC and the it worked just fine. Normally I use my Apple Mac to do everything but it wouldn't show the picture just the sound. I bought the PC for my model railroading planing 3rd Planet t design my railroad and that is all I have on it. Your Video worked just fine on windows 7 and I liked it very much. You ave produced some very nice photos of your layout and your trains in the past and I enjoy every one. Thanks for sharing your world and the advice you help others with.

You need to add some railroady music. Like some fool hyperventilating through a harmonica. I searched YouTube for examples, but no harmonica artiste ever posts anything mercifully short.

Sorry, I have my standards...

The second video sounds just fine with the actual clickety-clack from the train!
