I have not done a DZ switch motor to a Scaletrax switch but have done an 027 switch and converted it to a DZ-1000 switch machine. I had to gut the switch housing of all former switch electrical and strip it down. Was able to attach the pin or rod from the DZ-1000 to the switch track throw lever inside the switch, so now I have a useful switch instead of a beat-up dud. I attached the DZ-1000 with two screws and adjusted the throw ability of the switch machine.

I just hope that you don't have to strip the Scaletrax switch down to the base like I did for the 027 switch. Because once you strip it that's it for it's former use.

Thanks for your reply Lee,

I ordered some 1/8" styrene and magnets. I did a prototype with 1/8" stock basswood, small hole drilled in one end and double sided tape on the other. The piece was about 3/4" long. One of the springs that came with the DZ-2500 worked fine and it allows the non-derailing feature of the switch to work as well. I didn't have to strip down the motor that came with the Scaletrax switch. I almost did.
