Scaling up HO decals to O scale

I have a set of HO decals that I need to scale up for an O scale project. My plan is to scan them using a high resolution color scanner and then print them on waterslide decal paper using my laser printer. Was wondering if there was any set formula I could use in making them bigger or do I just need to do trial and error until I get them to the size I want?

HO is 1/87, O is 1/48, so enlarge them 87/48 = 181%.
