Yesterday I happened to look at a big jar of parsley flakes in my kitchen cupboard  and thought they might work making trees and shrubs. Has anyone ever tried using them ??  Thought I would look for some good weeds out back  and see how they look.  Figured I would try two ways -one on the branches themselves and second, on some fiber material over the branches.  Any helpful suggestions ??

Herbs and spices make very interesting and effective scenery material. There are no longevity issues with most organic materials, as long as they are dried before using, assuming you don't have an extraordinary humid environment (in which case you have worse problems). If you are worried, dust the finished model with dull coat. Not really necessary, though.
