Hello! I just tried a different engine and track voltage is 18.5!!!I was trying out a new (used) train I got when I got that high reading. My Amtrak F59PH reads 18.5 volts on the remote. The train I was trying for the first time tonight reads 24.3,any reason for this?????
Confusing how a loco can boost transformer voltage. All my logic says the loco reduces voltage (otherwise known as a load).
Some of the early MTH PS3 engines would read the voltage high. I too have a couple that will show the voltage around 24 volts. All of my PS2 and later PS3 engines do read the voltage at the proper levels.
Don't worry about it, Run your trains and have a good time.
Connect a separate volt meter to the track or transformer to get an accurate, independent reading?
H1000 has it right.
