Fellas and Gals,
June is past. Is it too early to start pinin' for Christmas? Red is my favorite but I'm sure that there are plenty of Green engines out there?
Can we see them?

Yep! Too early! However, I am currently working on organizing the December issue of our magazine. Still, it's a bit too early, in my view, to start sharing a lot of holiday-related threads. Plenty of time for that after Halloween, when it helps put folks into the spirit of the season.
Now, if folks out there have some great high-res photos of their trains from last Christmas that they might like to share with our magazine readers, this is certainly the time to add them as JPEG attachments to e-mail and send them my way. Single photos can earn you $50 if used, and a full feature can earn you up to $400. A fun way to help with holiday expenses.
For most yes. For me,Christmas could be year round event. Maybe I was dropped on my head as a child but I can never get enough Christmas. As to the question, reds and greens are fabulous but I really enjoy the shiny chrome from Lionel's Flying Yankee. So much reflection. For me, tin plate really brings Christmas to life.
Lest I be misunderstood about my fondness for Christmas: I have a small (built on a 48" round tabletop) tinplate layout in my living room and it stays up all year long. Two circles of track (GarGraves) in O32 and O42. Buildings alternate, depending on my mood, between tin cookie container structures and Dept. 56 "Snow Village" buildings. I have a good many of each to choose from on a rotating basis. In the center is a metal armature "Christmas tree" adorned with the Hallmark "Tin Locomotive" series and some other tinplate trains.
I enjoy coming home in the evening, turning on the TV or watching a video, and just stretching out on the sofa watching the two MTH/LCT passenger trains circle endlessly. I just received an MRC Dual Power O27 transformer today, and will hook it up tonight to replace two MTH Z-1000 transformers currently being used to power the two tracks. Since the Dual Power transformer has a tethered control, I'll be able to lay on the sofa with a control unit right at my side--the ultimate in laziness.
During the "real" holiday season, the tree in the middle will be replaced with a legit Christmas tree, also adorned with nothing but train ornaments since I have a very large collection of such ornaments.
Only 3 more months. Love the photos.
Cordially,
Dennis
It's never to early for Christmas
