I have two GarGraves switches connecting a branch line. One is a left hand the other a right hand. I want the ability for one controller to cause one switch to take the straight through position while the opposite switch takes the turnout position and vice versa. The switch machines are DZ-1000 and the remote controller a DZ-1002P.

I would like to avoid having to use two remote controllers. Is there a way for one remote controller to operate one switch machine one way while operating the other switch machine the opposite way and vice versa?

One controller will operate both switch machines but I have been unable to get them to work opposite each other. Because of the configuration I cannot reposition the switch machines.   

Any Ideas if the capability I desire is even possible? If not then I will have to use two controllers which is a real inconvenience.

You can parallel two DZ 1000 switch motors off the same controller.  The rest is in the positioning of the switch motor.  This was done with a Ross 3 way and two Ross switches. One throw on the three way is paired with one switch for a cross over.   The other single switch is paired with the second DZ 1000 used on the 3 way switch.

You're going to have to wire one of the motors "backwards", so that the straight button on the control makes it throw to the diverging leg (basically you'll have the yellow wire from one switch and the green wire from the other switch wired to the yellow wire on the motor, and visa versa). The LED system wont work (both lights on the switch button will be lit all the time), but the switch motors should then thrown in the manner you desire.

I think you need to have the motors facing opposing directions on the same side of the track, or facing the same direction on opposite sides of the track... It can sometimes be a puzzle to get it to work the way you want.

As I put things together, note that for the LED's to work properly, (6), (2) on the push button and (4) on the two switch motors, the three components (2) switch motors and the pushbutton had to be wired color for color per diagrams.  It was fortunate I had the ability/space to place the switch motors to operate as needed.  The system, in addition to two sets of Push buttons in two locations, also has a Lionel SC-2 controller. Again all was done color for color. White cable color was Yellow on the switch motors.

Wes, what you want to do is easily done.  Essentially, instead of running the wires from one switch machine to the one controller, run the wires from both switch machines together to the one controller.  If you want the two switches to throw together (both straight or both turnout), keep the same colored wires together.  If you want one switch to operate opposite the other, just switch the wires to the second switch:

 

On the DZ1000 switch machine, there are three leads.  

- Connect the AC (red wire) leads from both switch machines together to 12V AC power supply positive terminal.

- Connect the C terminal on the DZ1002 controller to the common (negative) post on your AC power supply.

- Connect the R (green wire) lead from one DZ1000 and the L (yellow wire) lead from the second DZ1000 together, and connect them to the R lead on the DZ1002 controller.

- Connect the L (yellow wire) lead from the first DZ1000 and the R (green wire) lead from the second DZ1000 together and connect them to the L terminal on the controller.

 

This configuration, with the switch machine wires connected yellow with green, will have the second switch throwing opposite the first switch (one straight and the other turnout).  

 

To have the switches throw together (both straight or both turnout), connect the two switch machine wires green to green and yellow to yellow.

 

Gentlemen, thank you for your responses. hojack, your step-by-step wiring was exactly what I needed. Boilermaker1, your comment about the switches being on one side facing opposite directions on the switch lights was helpful. At first when I wired according to hojack, the lights didn't make sense until I came back and re-read all emails and noted yours on the light wiring.

So, I am good to go and am going and it is all working out just fine.
