I have the Rail King 30-1149-1 pictured here a few days ago. The smoke unit has quit working. I have checked the MTH Parts site and found that the locomotive requires part AA0000053. This is not available. This locomotive has been upgraded with an ERR Cruise Commander and Correct 3rd Rail Turbine sounds. What would be a good alternative smoke unit to use in this locomotive?

They are repairable. Figure out what failed. It was a PS-1 unit. G
I have that in PS3. The S2 turbine. If you don't hear anything under the stack then the fan is dead. If you hear the fan then the resistors that heat the oil in the wick are dead.
Fan motor can be bad, impeller slipping on shaft, or a 5V regulator. I can't remember if that unit had a unique funnel or not. Or if the more standard type. G
If the resistors get hot and the fan doesn't run, typically it's the regulator or fan motor, simple fixes.
The unit runs on track power, so it's easy to remove it and work on it on the bench.

If you are not too savvy with diagnosing and/or fixing electronics I am sure one of the gents on this forum would be willing to resolve the issue for you.
