B&M fan: FWIW-I don't have this set and do not have the instructions, but 6 drops of smoke fluid is just getting started in my opinion. The wicking in the smoke unit needs to have enough fluid so that it "wicks' up to the heating resistor to vaporize the fluid and make "smoke".
If the set has been in storage for some time, the smoke unit batting is likely dry and will need more initially to get it to smoke.
Thanks will try that, train is new it is this years bass pro shop north pole express.
If it's a fan driven smoke unit, it'll need a lot more for the initial prime. For a puffer, I normally give a brand new one about 15 drops.
If no smoke, you might have a defective switch, or broken wire. If low smoke, and mechanical puffer, they use a coated 30ohm resistor and it doesn't heat well, nor is the battening particularly good. I recently had to change the resistor for a customer to get better smoke. His was a conventional not LC, but I believe they are similar.
Edit: For the LC they use the 18ohm resistor. At least with LC you have 18V on the track. Normally conventional only requires about 10V and that is what limits the smoke output. G
The LC 18 ohm resistor can't be driven directly from the track voltage, that would be 18 watts in the smoke unit. No doubt it would smoke, but probably only for a minute or two! I haven't actually measured one to see what voltage they actually put on that smoke unit.
that's ok after Christmas I will have a super smoker installed and fill the living room with holiday smoke . or maybe it just may work tonight.
It's the LionChief North Pole Central Engine and tender with BassPro cars. With the smoke switch on that puffer should smoke well. Better than conventional because of the constant voltage. They also improved the puffer chamber, so you can get 10 drops in there without the fluid leaking out.
If you are close to the store, find out if they will exchange it. It should be smoking. If no, it will be under Lionel warranty.
so bass pro shop will exchange just the engine will controller that I got with that engine work new one

Are you asking a question or giving the answer?
I don't know the store's policies, but typically, one would exchange the complete set for another. One has to ask.
Lionel will most like likely repair the engine only. They ask that the remote is sent with LionChief products.

It is not. The LC drives it from the circuit board. G
