we had a beautiful day here this morning in Waynesville NC for our 1st Open House.  Several Forum members showed up early before the locals to say 'hello' and see the progress! First in were David and Denise from Cleveland TN pictured at the entrance with members ED & Ruby and my wife Barbara.  A decent crowd came and went throughout the afternoon. Terry and his son Trey from near Chattanooga,  Larry and his wife Nancy from Ervine TN, and Charles Welch from Kings Mtn NC were the Forum members who were kind enough to drive some distance to meet and say 'Hi'. If I forgot anyone please shout out and post here that 'You were there'

Thanks folks.

Several new local fellas showed up and hopefully will soon join us. As they say, A good time was had by all

Thanks to the club and everyone who helped make this a nice afternoon!

Very thoughtful to have the Thomas the tank set-up for the little ones.

Also, love the backdrops!  Did you or someone in the club paint them?

Happy railroading,

Don

Hi Don.  The backdrop on the rear wall was painted by me from my home layout and was added to here at the club. The new one in the foreground was painted by a lady neighbor of one of the members who is a professional artist. She did a great job!

Bob - I won't be bale to attend York this time but thanks for asking.

Thanks for the many kind remarks fellas!

At present we have only 6 active members which is why it has taken so long to get this layout up and running. Hopefully as more people see us we'll pick up more interested folks. Families are welcome and we are willing to teach the younger members.

On hand is an extensive lending library and videos for enjoyment of all.

...and yes, the N&W J Class is/was indeed one of Alex's with enhanced smoke!

Thanks for the extra photos Terry, glad you guys made it.

Sam, many thanks for the invite and hopefully this event can be held several times a year.

Good to see you again Charles.  The brewery down at the end is having a benefit for a battered women's center in two weeks (Oct 26) so we plan to be open as well to catch some of their traffic!
