Hey guys first time poster... I wanted to get some feedback from the community on various methods that people have come up with to successfully mate two pieces of gargraves track with the smoothest transition... be it the traditional gargraves pins or another method.

I was told to make sure the joints are staggered for smoother track. This really helps on curves.
Paul,
Welcome Aboard!
I agree with Joe about the need to stagger the joints, especially on the curves. I found that additional spiking against the rail and or gluing down the ties at the joints on the curves is helpful. I did this on our club's modular layout and it has kept the curves nice and smooth over many years and moves.

Thanks for the warm welcome.. glad to be here! Could you elaborate on what you mean by the joints.. the points at which the tracks meet or the actual rails? Also does your modular layout use the traditional gargraves pins or another method. I've found that the traditional pins leave a large gap in the rails.
If you have a gap your not pushing track together enough, push harder and there will be no gap.
