So now that the new MTH Vol1 2014 catalog is out what do you wish was in it?

The thing I'm concerned about with this is the mockup shows the exact same screen for an iPhone and the tablet.  I would hope that the tablet version would take advantage of the increased real estate and show more.

I continue to hope for a PRR N5/N5b cabin car (caboose).  MTH did a great job on the N5c and N8 cars and we Pennsy operators continue to hope for the "regular" N5 and N5b variations.

 

When Mike Wolf was here for the NS Heritage Event I/We talk to him about a Highhood GP30.  He said he was going to take pictures of 2601 and there was also a N&W highhood GP30 on site.  But alas still no JOY!  Between Southern, N&W and NS there are at least six different variations on paint and lettering.  Very disappointing!

 

There was also a M&M car I suggested.  His eyes bugged out as he completed my thoughts on use/operation.  But again no JOY.  At least this one I can hobble together myself.

Right there with you on the SD40-2 Highhood Sean. And we are now (I think) 11 years and counting since MTH has made a Kodachrome livery engine.

I wanted to see a UP gas turbine but I am glad to see the Dreyfus Hudson.

 I think we're going backwards. They list an Allegheny...but no two rail version for me!

I'll be getting the Cab-forward engine.

I finally got it to load.  So far:

- I will definately order the Dreyfus Hudson - been on my list for ages.  Already have the S-1 and propane turbine on order from the previous catalog.  

 

And I'm thinking about: 

- the Imperial Triplex just because: that many wheels in that size loco - gotta have it.

- The Chapelon Pacific

- The Rocket car train set

- A covered gondola or two

-The Zamboni  flat car

I would have liked to see a Railking GG1 that is longer than the traditional 13.5" and smaller than the scale length model.  Also, a different tooled doodlebug or 15" Budd RDC.  All these wishes are most likely to remain wishes and not reality in the near and distant future.  Unfortunately, new tooling projects are certainly not the current business model for either MTH or Lionel ...too risky to expense the related costs.

Would've bought just about anything M&StL, but it doesn't appear in the catalog anywhere.

Still, quite an impressive catalog; lots of options.

I still want a RTR set featuring a RailKing Scale M&StL GP-9 (red) and the missing 6464-type boxcars that MTH didn't offer when they did them years ago.

Still don't see the 30,000 tank cars now being use in haul crude oil cross country 

Also there is a new listing of Premier SP passenger cars. The ones from 2012 haven't been shipped  yet. Wonder if there were not enough orders.

5 yrs. Since I bought anything  out of MTH catalog.  Oh well.....

 

I want the Mckeen Motorcar and a matching trailer that was originally cataloged and then cancelled.

You'd think with all the re-runs using existing tooling, they could do a Conrail GP38-2.

 

Any new modern premier freight car models...What was the last new premier freight car, anyway?

I have to say I'm a little disappointed but also glad I didn't order what I wanted fro 2013 volume 2.

 

I've been on the fence about getting the UP 3 Truck Shay from the last catalog.  Not very prototypical to the real No.61 that UP ran but still it would have looked neat to have something "different" on the layout.

 

I have been waiting to order on purpose because the previous run of premier skeleton log cars are impossible to find and I didn't want to have the Shay without the log cars.  I was really hoping there would be some 6 car sets this catalog. 

 

No luck.  Not for any of the roads the Shays were released in. They have tons of 6 set car packs for some engines but not others.  I guess I just don't understand.

There are plenty of items in there to consider. I have to get items from the past 3 catalogs from MTH this year. I am glad there was not too much more.

 

As much as I want to get a SOO GP30 diesel set soon. I have to get caught up with what they have already produced.

I must agree with Sean and some of the others.  A Southern high hood SD-40-2 would go a long way with us Southern fans.  In addition was hoping MTH or someone would do the 86' auto parts box cars.  There's enough interest to make this a good seller, even with the size. 

 

On the other hand, I do believe the Interstate RS-3 will be delivered to our house.

I was hoping to see reissue Southern 0-6-0 or 0-8-0 in black, but I guess I will have to wait to see if that will happen in a future catalog.  I knew there would be no new tooling, but I hope one day someone will make 630.   I was surprised to see reissue of RailKing NS Executive set this soon. 

 

I have put in a request for Reading F-3's in the future (who knows if it will happen) But I would like to see the PRR L-5 reissued.  I am hopeful as they did re-issue the BB Rats

I'd like a Long Island Rail Road C-Liner, and an S-2 switcher.

A reissue of the Alco/GE/iR boxcab diesel paintedbin Ingersoll-Rand yellow as they were at the plant in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Green Southern F7 ABA set. They did them in NS and Southern in black.  Shouldn't be too hard to paint them green. Would also like to see heavyweight cars in Southern in late 40s - 1950s lettering.

Now will MTH IMPORT ALL of what is in the catalog........

There was not a RailKing Soo Line Modern Reefer Car with the blue doors in this catalog.
