guys,  I have heard a few whistles from Youtube layouts on engines.  I wondered if any of you have a whistle like the single chime C&O type.  here is the link for the sound.

if you know of a sound file from a particular engine that has maybe this whistle, could you tell me which one you downloaded it from?

thanks

Chris

First, the model in your post title is NOT a "Y6b", as the N&W Y6b was a 2-8-8-2.

Second, to my knowledge, MTH has not produced a Premier 2-6-6-2 for either the C&O nor the N&W, otherwise I would have 2 of each.

Third, the MTH C&O H-8 2-6-6-6 model has probably the best C&O single chime steam whistle of any articulated model on the market. The problem is, the C&O H-8 is a simple articulated, while the N&W Y6b, or for that matter the C&O 2-6-6-2, locomotives you refer to, is a compound articulated, thus the exhaust chuffs per revolution should be different. Also, MTH did a nice job on the C&O single scheme freight whistle in the models of the C&O K-4 2-8-4 locomotives.

i goofed.  i meant 2-8-8-2.  actually, i have a usra. rail king.  i was looking for an upgraded sound set for it.  it has that delay chuff-chuff.

Being an articulated, it probably should have the "delay chuff-chuff".  Aside from that, what is incorrect about the whistle sound?

the sound set in my gs4 has a great whistle that sounds exactly like the real one.

I would certainly hope so, since MTH recorded the real GS-4 #4449.
