I have a PS 1 sounds box car that has stopped working. # on car 5149, State Of Maine. When I push down on the roof - Rt end - the sounds start working. How can I fix this ? Art

Something is loose in there. Take the box off and look.
How do you remove the trucks ? I hear that there are screws underneath them.
Katy: I'd start with the easy stuff first vice going inside first - you say putting pressure on one end of the car gets the sound package working, so I'd look carefully at the wire connections on that truck to see if you have a separated wire connection to either a roller (center rail) or a ground wiper on the axles.

A simple inspection would find that the screws are remove from the bottom, MTH cars are mounted via screws from the inside/top
What is the MTH item # for this boxcar, or what year is it from? I don't believe that I have ever seen an MTH boxcar with PS1 sound.

I think you need to remove the screws that hold the door guides on as well
