Hi
Looking to get into some layout building and would like to build a tunnel/hillside - I hear pink foam is the way to go. Is that correct?
If so, where can I get it? I am in NYC if that is relevant.

Lowes has the green foam insulation - 2" thick 4' x 8' sheets. About $36 a sheet.
Home Depot has Owens pink in 2' x 8' sheets 2" thick about $20.

Ditto to what Sean said.
My local Lowes also has green foam board in 1" x 4' x 8' sheets. I find the 1" board a little easier to work with when cutting.
Other than the words "Lowes" versus "Owens Corning" being stamped on the foam and the color, from what I can tell the green board is the same as the pink board. I think the color pink must be copyrighted by Owens Corning :-)
and... we cannot get it in Jacksonville, FL unless we buy a pallet full. only need 3 sheets or so. Bob
As mentioned HD, etc. carry rigid foam. My suggestion, depending on what you are doing, it is worth having 3/4,1,1-1/2 and 2" thick sheets.
Don't forget hot glue and a sure form tool.
But what do I know.......?
