Hi folks-

So, I have a mystery. I finally finished (well...almost) my SuperO basement empire. I've cleaned, wired and tested everything seven ways to Sunday. However...I'm noticing something weird. My two workhorse locos are TMCC Geeps- one a Rio Grande, the other a Santa Fe. As I've been testing everything before "launch" so to speak, I'm noticing that my DRGW Geep is sparking like the 4th of July and having real issues with maintaining a steady current. The Santa Fe Geep is just cruising along without a problem (and not a spark to be had). Any thoughts? I've got three other locomotives with TMCC and open-frame motors that work fine as well. Would it be a track problem or a engine problem? Thanks for any insights!

If all the other locos work fine, then the problem is with the ONE loco.

Are the sparks coming from the pickups or the wheels? In either case, a thorough cleaning of said pickups or wheels is in order.

next, check if something inside the loco is shorting to the frame. Can you run it without the shell?
