In 1950 the rural town of Beawslaiw is located somewhere between San Francisco and Los Angeles along the Southern Pacific main line. The Brisbane and Bushong Railroad (B&B) runs east off of the SP line and through town. The B&B is a short line with both freight and passenger service. The headquarters and yard for the B&B are also located in town. Along the B&B main line tracks is one of Beawslaiw's churches. It is St. Matthew's Church. It also has a small cemetery. On most days the crews of passing trains can see town folk paying their respects at the cemetery or talking to the pastor, Father Andrew and Sister Jessica.
