SORRY, but this whole Polar Express thing has taken on a life of its own for better or worse. 😐 The wonderful and inspired SHORT story has been overblown and distorted into a merchandising steamroller that bespeaks of greed and not the true spirit of Christmas reflected in the original SHORT story. Kind of a contradiction. Call me a Grinch, but I feel the original story is still the best version, without the added commercial embellishments. I rest my case.

Hello all .....Standard Gauge Berkshires are a bit thin on the ground .....but there is one ...Bob Hendrich  ( of Goldstar GG1 fame)  built up a Berkshire using a Randall Hudson  body .....looks very good in my opinion , Bob was a very talented builder ...check out the Berk in action last year at Trainfest

Those are awesome locomotives!   Were they ever running during the first six years (2012-2017) when I was SGMA's Trainfest Modulator?  Also, to the best of your knowledge, has Bob Hendrich ever made a 4-8-4 Northern like The Milwaukee Road's famous 261?

FYI: Being a Tom Hanks fan, I did take my  grandchildren to the local IMAX when the movie version first came out, and it was fairly entertaining, in spite of the somewhat strange animation employed. I even purchased the initial Polar Express starter set for them. I still believe the wonderful, though sparse, short story with those inspired illustrations is in a league of its own and best conveys the true spirit of Christmas.

Hello all

Bob  Hendrich ..did not make a Northern that I'm aware of

However   Dunseith ...expanded a Randall Hudson boiler to make a Northern ...this is a very big engine .

Trainfest 2017  I brought up a Randall Hudson by Hendrich  pulling a string of Randall Pullmans ...made a very impressive set in my book .
