I'm interested in getting a wall mounted display case for some of my standard gauge trains.  Was thinking of building one myself until I saw a dealer in the Orange Hall this past York. He wasn't there, and the cases on display where for O gauge, but I did take his business card and will probably contact him.

I'm not at all interested in the Glenn Synder shelving as I want to avoid the maintenance of dusting and will want something with glass or acrylic doors.

Anyone know if a vendor for such an item?
Not much luck searching the Internet for one.

I too would prefer something enclosed to keep dust off the trains.  I really like these cases http://www.showcase-express.co...augeDisplayCase.aspx but there are a few negatives in my opinion.  The sizes listed for Standard Gauge are either 6" tall or 10" tall.  The 6" tall case is on the small side, could work for smaller sized standard gauge trains but not all will fit and the trains may seem cramped.  The 10" case is too big and wastes space, I think ideally the cases should be about 8" tall.

The other negative is that they only come in 4' lengths, you can connect them together but you are still locked into increments of 4', they do not custom cut this size of case.

Lastly, and this is a biggie, the price is sky high compared to the Glenn Snyder type shelving.  It would cost an awful lot to fill up your wall with these shelves.

John.

My issue with using shelving like Glen Snyder's is not only dust, but that dull film that items get when unprotected. I can blow, or using a makeup brush, brush dust off, but items loose that sheen. I don't know what causes it. I don't smoke. I have the card from the gentleman in the Orange hall with me today at work. His name is Bill Cherundolo and his businesses name is Shelf Depot (very original). He doesn't have a website but I'm going to email him what I would like.
Allan. Thanks for the link. Unfortunatly the longest case is 48", which would fit 3 series 200 cars. Ideally I'd like to find something around 6' long with 3 shelves. I think something like that could hold 15 200 series cars, or a couple of engines. The weight is also something I guess I should consider. The 408 weighs, I don't know, 20 pounds or so? Then again, the cars weigh nothing. I think it wound be nice to be able to display my trains, and have them easily accessible to take them off the shelves and run on a whim. The idea of enclosing the Glen Snyder shelves is starting to appeal to me.
