Wondering if anyone can help me out... I have a stationsounds diner that responds to commands (lights on/ off, reset button shows flashing lights as does assigning a number) but will not play any sounds. I've checked what I would consider the obvious... sound at max underneath, sound increased on cab controller, turning on stations Sounds car on cab, resetting using instructions provided in manual... still nothing. Any suggestions? Any help is appreciated!!!

I have seen some units with the volume control pot wired backwards. Have you tried turning the volume control pot all the way counterclockwise? Or at least try turning it back and forth quickly several times to see if there is any dust in it.
You could also open up the car and re-seat the boards on their connectors.
put your ear near the car and have someone turn off and on the track power. In a working car, you will hear a tiny click or thump as power is applied. Hear anything?
Byron, of you'd show up at club meetings, I could get it working for you.

Who is this??? Ha Ha Ha.... . Figured I would try to figure it out on my own for once... but if I can't I definitely know who to call. Thanks GR Johnny!!
Try changing speaker first. G
I realize this is 6 years later, but I had the same thing happen on a StationSounds Superliner I bought. I played with the POT, reseated boards, reset the car via Cab II, but nothing worked. I took a shot in the dark and replaced the sound card [RAILSOUNDS 4E / AMTRAK STATIONSOUNDS (6-29168)], and I now have sound! Lionel was out of the Phase IV sound cards, but I swapped my bad one out for a Phase III card I bought off their website.

Your problem is likely to be the sound card and not the chips. If you want the original sounds, you can probably transplant the chips from the defective card to a new one and get the Phase IV sound back.
