Hello all-

Here is a new structure I am working on using walls from the Stoney Creek Majestic Theater.   I purchased only the walls from Roger M of Stoney Creek, so I will be configuring the rest of the build on my own - including doors, windows, and roof.

For the brick, I used Folk Art Burnt Sienna Acrylic.  After the initial coat, I painted some individual bricks lighter and darker.  For the mortar, I used gesso tinted with 'Pebble' acrylic paint

For the 'plaster' that covers up the brick along the front and sides of the structure, I used a Pan Pastel - Orange extra dark.

As shown in the photos, I made a mock up of the roof.  The roof will be copper, which will be variegated and weathered.   Board and batten from Mt Albert will be on the front and rear elevations under the roofline.  The wood was colored with Pan Pastel - Ultramarine Blue Shade (I forgot to take pics of this).  I then topped the Pan Pastel on the Board and Batten with Hunterline Driftwood stain (diluted 50/50 with 91 % alcohol)

The completed structure will serve as a BrewPub (an old theatre that was converted into a brewpub).  I will probably add brewing tanks along the side or back - depending where I think this will end up on the layout.

Hi all - thank you.  Here are a few updated photos.  Added the real copper roofing - naturally aged, and installed the board and batten on the front and rear elevations.   The laser cut doors and windows should arrive sometime this week.   Still coming up with ideas for signage.   Menus and or ads will go on the little gray boards on the front.  Probably will make some sort of hanging sign for 'Blue Mountain Brewery'   -Jeff

Thanks -

Real copper roofing is from Builders In Scale.   To age:  First dip quickly in Ferric Chloride - this takes off the 'sheen' - makes it look like an aged penny.  Looks pretty cool like this.  To make the green patina- it gets a urine bath.  Yes - I know, sounds kind of odd, but even Frank Lloyd Wright had his architecture 'green' copper details use this method.  I was taught this method by 'mad mike' from Canada.

Hi all-

Thanks.

Lee - I have been following your 'Streets' progress and projects - all very interesting and look great.  Thank you for sponsoring the forum.

Yes - I have many more projects to build.  I have a pile of Stoney Creek kits, Yorke kits, and Downtown deco kits.   The Stoney Creek kits lend themselves to building as intended as a kit.  The Yorke kits, most of them, look great with personal touches added.  I think some of the Yorke kits are best done following the directions.  Of course, all of this is depending on the builders preference and taste.

I have build out a few Downtown Deco kits, but have not posted any recent pics.

Thanks-

Jeff
