Street lamps for temporary Christmas layouts

I use the lemax ones. See below. Nope, I dont use batteries, they come with a port to hook up a 3V or 4.5V adapter. Lemay makes them that do either 3 of the 4.5 or 4 of the 3 off 1 PS. There are about 10 adapters under the mountains and platforms. This allows the layout to look a little different each year and we keep expanding.I am thinking about modifying the battery boxes, so they are only adapters.

 

I control power with remote plug adapters that power power strips. 4 buttons to power everything, from the couch. 

 

 

I use the Lemax flashing railroad crossings with AA Nimh(1600 mah Panasonic) batteries and I just leave them on.  I get about a week out of a full charge, it keeps something happening on the Christmas putz all the time.

I will second the idea about using adaptors for the battery cases.   Michael's has them for sale and regular list price is $24.95 but usually can get them for 30-50% off with coupons.  Just one plug will run a minimum of 3 devices. 

Just an FYI, the michaels near me is already clearing out their Christmas stuff.  All the village stuff was almost gone other than a few of the items that had been on the store display platform this year and was priced at 70% off

Marty R: That is one IMPRESSIVE Christmas layout. Definitely a step beyond the circle under the tree!

I cut the battery pack off and use a 3.0V wall wart transformer.  I connect the transformer to a barrier strip and then branch off to the various light positions from there.

Thank you! It's a lot, for Thanksgiving weekend, through midish January, but until I get permant layout space, I'm happy.
