I have a Lionel 2-8-4 8002 Union Pacific with a striped driver gear. I can tell it is striped by the shaving in the gear box and how the teeth feel. How can I tell if the worm gear is also striped? Will both gears have to be replaced. I can find the drive wheel gear but not having any luck finding a armature.
Also I have a pair of k-line Alco PA's Nappa Valley passenger set, and the front coupler on the Alco was destroyed by a unattended puppy years ago. The train was under the Christmas tree one year in the livingroom and we noticed Max our beagle was missing. Upon looking around the house to see what he had been up to we found him under the tree with him washing the from of the alco. After he had moved when we walked in the the room I found that he had been chewing on the coupler and completely destroyed. Needless to say he got his butt warmed that evening. Anyone have a part number for the coupler assembly? I need the complete arm from the truck to the knuckle.
