Are you talking about conductive grease you put on the tabs when you assemble it, or something you rub on the track to keep it clean?  On preserves conductivity from the beginning, the other (I use iso-alcohol) removes tarnish/dirt build up/whatever you call it that builds up over time and reduces conductivity/increases resistance.

Some people use this.  This is what Bachman says about it:

"BACHMANN - E-Z Lube Conductive Contact Lube & Track Cleaner Solution for Hobby Motors, Train and Race Track (bottle)
Works on both Slot Car Race Tracks and Train Tracks of All Scales. Great for use with any conductivity problems at the joints in track layouts. Its also a great contact cleaning solution for slot car motors, radio control motors and model train motors. For superior electric motor maintenance and track cleaning, the modeler's choice is E-Z Lube Conductive Contact Lubricant

  • Restores electrical conductivity.
  • Penetrates existing corrosion.
  • Flushes carbon build-up and dirt out of motors
  • Retards the rate of corrosion and prevents new corrosion.
  • Safe for plastics.
  • Eliminates "sparking and arcing."
  • Works chemically, not mechanically."
