Suggestions On Best Way To Adhere Woodland Scenics Snow

I like the woodland scenic snow as the finishing touch - I found that Elmer's white glue thinned with distilled water and brushed on or straight worked for me and didn't yellow. I assumed it was the tap water but later read some threads that it said was a reaction with the WS glue or water and WS glue.

My very first experience ever resulted in the first layer of snow looking like pollution had discolored it. The forum saved my enthusiasm.

I believe Lowe's has the large jugs of Elmer's. I went with unthinned glue and then decided on using the distilled water for a thinner mixture. I don't thin it a lot.

I had some detail areas where I used Aileen's tacky and the super tacky straight from the bottle that didn't yellow.

 I have never used their snow. I have used leaves ground up in a blender over my existing scenery. My layout is more fall like. The ground cover was applied over straight wet Elmers for the basic ground cover. As I built it up. I pre wetted the area and dribbled on a 50/50 mix. The leaveswere going over existing scenery to represent dead fallen leaves. I ended up using Mat Medium out of a spray bottle. No wetting. They didn’t require a big soaking of glue. Just misted over them and it secured them enough. They passed the vacuum test cleaning up.

Hello Rick, my entire layout is a winter scene as you can see from the attached photos.

I always used Matte Medium that I purchased from Scenery Express for areas that are close to where a person could blow or touch the snow. Little kids seem to enjoy blowing the snow more so than grown ups.

Must be a height thing !!!!

Further away areas I just sprinkled the snow on the scenery and built up areas with additional snow if needed.

Along with the Woodland Scenic Snow Product I also use Buffalo Snow Brand extra fine snow.

A bag of the Buffalo Snow Product will go a long way compared to a bottle of Woodland Scenic Snow.

Mix the two snows together as your putting in on your scenery to give the snow a different texture. 

After the snow is down and dried (a few hours depending on your conditions) spray it again very lightly with Matte Medium and then add another light coat of snow.

I have not found anything so far that in time does not turn the snow a yellowish color.

Over the summer when my layout is covered up with plastic drop cloths it still gets dusty and the snow is not as white.

Simple fix, just like in the real world give your scenery a light dusting of snow and everything will look all fresh again.
