Hey guys. I am continuing my tour around the layout. My trailer park, “Desert View Campground” is featured today. If you recall, Allan Miller did a “back section” on the Campground in Run 313. I wrote a whimsical article about each of the trailers and their occupants.

All of the trailers are from Woodland Scenics. The American flag stand I had in my spare parts box. Most of the figures are Woodland Scenics and Scenic Express. Assorted diecast cars were purchased from Diecast Direct.

Up on the bluff, there is a ranch hand checking up on his cattle.

Enjoy the pics and have a great Sunday!

Donald

The Chromium Process Company is a scratch-built basswood structure that sits alongside Pequonnock Creek on my 10’-by-5’ layout. The company opened in Shelton, Connecticut in 1927 and closed in 2009 because it was unable to meet environmental standards for effluent discharge. Note the 12-inch pipes that empty into the creek. The company offices are directly behind the factory.

Alan, fantastic barge and looks right at home in the waterfront pictures. Donald really enjoying the weekly tours. Great trailer park. All your extra details make it come to life. Melgar really nice scratch built structure and that stone foundation makes it look right in place along the creek. Stubbygda hope you can keep us updated on that cement plant, it looks so real.

Tom

Melgar, how did you do the stone foundation?  Looks fantastic.

The foundation is a stone-colored urethane material from Scenic Express. The item is "Multi-Scale Cut Block Stone Wall." Look under "Tunnel Portals & Walls/O Scale/Walls, Wings & Seam Sealers." It comes in sheets about 12 inches by 5 inches by 1/2-inch thick and is easy to cut. It is not apparent from my photograph but the riverside foundation wall is made in two pieces. The lower three courses of stone facing the creek are fixed to the layout terrain and integrated into the ground cover of the riverbed. The upper two courses of stone are fixed to the structure around its entire perimeter so that the building itself has a complete, four-sided foundation. The building is not fastened to the layout. It just sits atop a prepared area, including the lower part of the stone wall, that locates it in position.
