Well my Friends....We are about to say farewell to 2012 and welcome 2013....  Here is hoping that the end of the year and the starting of the new one finds you and yours in good health and happiness!

Below are a few pictures of continued progress on the new deep water scene.  The photos show the addition of detail to the upper portion of the concrete pylon which supports the swivel bridge....  I am using an MTH bridge for the project.  I have a lot more to do on this project so I will update you all as I go along.  I will be using the wiring that MTH provided to illuminate portions of the bridge at night...

Thanks guys!...Great looking projects from all of you....

Muff...the "retaining walls" were made for me by Jim at Bridgeboss.  During another project he and I were working on, I had him make these to increase the height of his arch bridge and to also at the same time allow me to construct his bridge just under the edge of the layout without having to cut out a space for it.  Then I mounted the concrete units on top of and in front of the facia of the layout.  You can see what I did in the picture below.  Since that project, I had him make more so that I could use them as break water walls and retaining walls.  All I had to do is send him a simple drawing and he was willing to accommodate!

Alex - Wish I had a spot for that candy store.

Reminds me of the old candy store I used to buy Revell model navy ships at back in the day at Giles & Clove Rd.

The owner, an old lady lived upstairs or in the back.

The soda fountain was always a great hit too!

Nice work as always!

Maybe if you move down here we can rent out a storage place and build a super layout?

While I have been aware of this BV kit, I was not aware of the interior detailing for the upstairs.

So Let me get this straight....

The interior kit includes not only the downstairs bar stools and backwall lining but the upstairs as well- including the furniture?

Also do the streetlamps work?

Thanks in advance for your clarification in this matter.

Hi Steve thanks, I would bet that the building is still there. There's so many buildings

like that in that area. Someday I will be retiring and headed down your way. We can build an Empire!!!!.

Thanks, Alex

Hi Guys the first photo is what is included in the detail kit number 809

the second photo is what comes in the main kit number 808.

Just an FYI when I built this kit I found the instructions to be confusing, so I set them aside and built this entire model with my past carpentry skills and looking at a lot of photo's of it.

Thanks, Alex

Thanks Jerrman these instructions were just about impossible to understand, but like you said it's worth the aggravation.

Vulcan, while I was painting these 50  tiny pieces of this kit, I was thinking of you with your expertise you display from week to week. I normally don't do many detailed interior kits. So now I understand the level of difficulty that it takes. You are one of the masters of modeling.

Thanks, Alex

What a great collection of pics and stories to inspire us for the new year!

Hey Steve, let's see if we can entice a whole lot of the fellas up in the NE to move down here to these beautiful mountains and we'll all really create an 'empire'!

If you reshoot your excellent clip from a lower angle, it truly would be difficult to ascertain that it isn't real...
