Good Morning Everyone,
I will start off with something I constructed in the past. Lets see what you have been working on.

Continued work on the Oblong Box Company:
More spraying.....now three the roof sections and the wooden siding office addition.
Next, build the foundation. 1st, pre-assembly
Small dabs of super glue gel.
Trying to hide the seams with plastic wood.
Sanding.
My newly found color for concrete. Rustoleum Driftwood.
More plastic wood and more sanding. Then, putting this aside and this week will be the door assemblies.
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!
Peter
Morning everyone. Hope you’re staying cool. The heat this weekend was a great excuse to visit the hobby store and knock out some structure work!
I finished the top floor of the machine shop - added a drill press, bench grinder, and figures. The worker at the drill press has been a bit sloppy lately - maybe it’s the distracting wall art at his station!
With the machine shop complete, I’m turning my focus to the second Walthers Cornerstone building flat. To start I snagged a nice Bar Mills sign kit… you can probably guess what this building will be:
Prior to painting, I’m doing some work to the exterior. The first project is adding a new covered loading dock. Here’s the floating style platform’s construction using styrene. Eventually this and the buildings foundation will get a concrete treatment.
Still need to figure out what type of sizing/ mounting angle I should use for the dock cover. Also open to any suggestions for model tar paper to use on a roof like this!
Alex, I have use commercial tar paper from BEST Scale Models. I also use medical tape. Can’t take credit for it as a small roll came with a craftsman kit years ago. Sticks very well. It is white so it needs to be painted. It is thin but you can still see the seems. One roll is probably a lifetime supply. CVS carries it under their own brand.

Dave,
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll check these both out. The effect on your roof is exactly what I’m going for.
Down at the end of the tracks of Utacolzona Railroad.
Just above that shack, we see balancing rock
Thanks for looking.

Looks like another great front to decorate. Did mine years ago as part of Sunshine Biscuits, still sitting on the closet shelf. (Poor photos from an old mp camera
Here are some ideas...

Awesome folks- thank you all for sharing with us!
Here's my Altoona Model Works station kit, nearing completion. I don't think I did a great job with laying the shingles, but I think that gives the roof a somewhat dilapidated appearance. Next up will be some weathering for the structure and concrete foundation. I plan to use this building for some sort of yard office, or MOW building on my layout.
All, an inspirational Master Class in model building !! Thanks to all and really appreciate all the photos.

Nice work on the machine shop Alex.
For the roof paper- take a look at silicon carbide sand paper. Coarser grits will give the appearance of gravel in the paper.

Check out this site also. I've used many images printed on cardstock and mounted on thin cardboard.

Bob - thanks for the recommendations!
SIRT - thanks for posting that! I almost bought a second matching structure after seeing what you did with your other Walthers flat. Lots of great inspiration - love those door locks you added. The added smoke stack/ vertical height is really impressive.
Could never find a factory stack in O back then. Still don't believe one is available today. That one is a cut down chair or table leg covered with spackle.
Altoona Models sell factory stacks.

Seen them awhile back. $60 & 75 bucks for a stack is not justifiable I.M.O.
