Good Morning Everyone,
I have enjoyed seeing all your projects lately. Here is something I will start off with. Lets see what you have this week.

Alan - love what you’ve done with the lighting there. It looks great lit up!
This week I did some work on the exterior of the cornerstone flat. Painting, adding star bolts, and a first attempt at using chipping medium to model a chipping wooden door.
Still need to do a few touch ups in prep for the rest of the exterior details. So far so good!
Masking and first paint - really cuts down on that bright red plastic.
Star bolt detail and some roofing paper added. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions last week - the 3m micropore tape was a great idea!
Here’s that chipped door I mentioned - I added some wood color as a base layer before the final coat of green. Still need some practice here but not bad. SIRIT’s take on the structure inspired me to add a padlock as some door detail.
As I continue building I may skip the originally planned platform canopy. While I like the added dimension, I’m on the fence about covering up so much of that first floor. Maybe I’ll attempt something removable…
Great job Alex.

The two tone detailing on the brick looks great. The doors look like they haven't been painted in 50 years.
Nice modeling.

Alan, Alex and Steve, fantastic work. All look so real.

Good Morning everyone. I do like scenic showcases and hope to contribute regularly. This Sunday will be an overview of building a rendition of the Cat Facility in Athens, George. All of my models are renditions. What I mean by that is that it is not an exact copy of the building or over all scene. It is similar and fits on my layout. The factory in Athens is 850,000 square feet. Opps, not enough room. You can see the images in this link. https://www.gray.com/projects/caterpillar-inc-ga/
I used Pecos River materials bought directly from the Ohio office. They are exceptionally good and will cut pieces to your specifications, So my first job was to make a plan and here it is,
The next step was to order parts and begin construction.
This is the finished scene.
I put a skylight in to give a view of the interior showing the operations.
First attempt at doing a video
second attempt at posting a video
@Alan Graziano....wow, Wow, WOW! Let's see...you've got the skip tubs incline, you've got the bell housing and hatch, you've got the stoves connected to the bustle pipe, the cast house floor and finally access below the cast house floor for the bottle and slang cars. I didn't see the tap drill and mud gun (but I'll bet they're there inside the cast house!) Looking at this model, I close my eyes and can hear the super heated gas screaming through the pipes at supersonic speed from the stoves to furnace!
Holy smokes! You got it all man! It's a real tribute to steel making....fantastic model!
Slow progress on the Oblong Box Company
Small parts painting and sub-assemblies
Progress will be slow....you have to cut you own wood strips from a pile of scale lumber ......then paint it. I'm getting ready for the freight car wall assembly.
Taking my time....read the instructions 3, 4 or 5 times, then act.
Have a great and safe weekend, folks.
Everyone's work this week is truly wonderful!
Peter
last attempt , if successful, I graduate
very slow progress... working on the stone wall and wharf. Plastic stone block wall spray painted several colors and accents with basswood pilings stained with diluted India ink. Working towards a photo submission to OGR Magazine - maybe in 2024
Downtown in Utacolzona, Mr. Hinkle just opened the store for the day. Looks like he needs to do some cleaning up on the premises and fix the sidewalk from last night's heavy rain as it undercut the sidewalk.
Just up the hill at the Lucky #7 mine, Mr. Johnson is picking up a load of coal for the locals.
Mr. Thompson said they still have not found any precious metals yet and wonders if they ever will.
Thanks for looking. Dennis.
I’ve enjoyed reading an looking at the posts here today in the scenic forum.
Question now regarding new metal 90 degrees square, a new metal straight edge I ordered last winter. What is the reason the increment measure doesn’t begin or end exactly at the metal strip’s end…?
Strange, I really didn’t expect this😜
thanks for your response…
