Good Morning Everyone,
I will start off with something from the past. This week I had to construct some models for one of the construction projects we are doing at my real job. Let's see what you have been working on.

I've posted this before, but I thought it good to do so again, because it can have a calming effect during these challenging times:

My main job for now is finishing the Charles Hotel, what's left is adding renters for the 2 vacant storefronts on the first floor and a little weathering before attaching to the layout.
Bar,
youre trees look great. I always abmire the pictures of your layout.
Arnold,
you are right. It is very calming. Good choice.
Ray,
your building is fantastic. You are doing a great job with it.
Pete,
your labscaping and building are excellent.
Thank you all for contributing.
Alan, did you chronicle that build on the forum when you did it? It appears familiar to me. Would be great to see the models you're doing for work.
Johan, great looking trees. let us know how you make them.
Ray, if those are both storefronts does that make this the side of the Hotel Charles? I only see two doors.
Nice work Pete.
Alan,
Thanks for posting Sunday Scenic Showcase today. Not much modeling or model train activity for me lately but glad to have the Forum to keep me occupied while staying home and keeping up with current events.
This storage shed is one of the first structure models that I built during construction of my 12’-by-8’ model railroad more than twenty years ago. It resides in a cut spanned by two truss brides and a two-span girder bridge. The lower yard is non-operational and used only to park trains.

Great work everyone. Getting some Hobby time is really beneficial in this "Pandemic Time". I was able to complete the scenicing for the clubs modules that I showed "in progress" last week. The tanker trucks are loose and can be re-arranged and will most likely result in a few less when we can regroup and display. (Don't mind the washer/dryer backdrop as space is somewhat limited)
Here are some pics of the two units I completed.
All the work posted today is outstanding - Alan's house, BAR GP7 #63's trees, Arnold's lake, and WBG Pete's scenery. Sidehack's hotel is phenomenal. I would like to know how many hours he spent building the Charles Hotel including research, design, 3d printing, painting and assembly.

Completed another 10 feet of scenery base in 2 1/2 hours this morning. This is just the base, will all be redone later:
Outstanding work by everyone on this weeks showcase. Thanks for all the pictures. Alan your Sunday Showcases contain a wealth of information weekly.
Tom
wbg Pete, really like the track to scenery ratio on your layout. Makes it look as you would see in real life.

Joe you have a good eye, this is the side facing the elevated train line next to the stone arch, the railway station is to the right and Main St is on the left. When first built it was known as the Cooley Hotel.
This is part of a post card I found, notice the steam loco to the right.

Mel, you also have to add in time to build the 3D printer which is working better than I thought it would, have over 1,000 hrs of run time so far with no break downs....yet
Great stuff today, folks!

A few minutes left on Sunday, I’m still good.
Here’s my entry to the Substation/Municipal Building kitbash collection. Inspired by current events... the Mighty Wipe Toilet Paper factory! I’ve got a lot of work to still do but the skeleton is all glued up (the roof is not attached yet, just holding the building straight.
This is 3 kits of each building (All the side walls got used. I have lots of municipal fronts and backs left)
I’ve not seen one with a portion turned sideways. It took 3 walls to make the mating wall (substation back wall, municipal side wall and the protruding column that I cut off when the substation front walls were joined). It was a bit of a pain but I’m pleased with the result. I found the substation kits to be extremely brittle. Not sure if it’s just 25 year old plastic or the plastic they used. The 3 kits I’ve got were all still shrink wrapped and from multiple sources, so I assume it’s the whole run. Don’t drop the substation walls, you might not be happy. The Municipal buildings were pretty normal plastic.
The right hand upper window isn’t necessary (not visible) but keeping it left a 3rd point to join the walls.

Pete,
You're creating a monster. Your regular progress always shows a special artistry that I don't always see and always seems to be logical. I can always imagine what your next step will be. The undulations with the fascia and land forms is excellent and makes for very dramatic scenery. I can also see some wonderful video and photograph opportunities in the layout's future.
I can't tell from the pics but will visitors have access to the other side of your hillsides or is that an enclosed area? If so, will you leave the sub-terrain exposed the way it is? Just curious.

Thanks for the kind words!!
The photos were taken standing on a step stool looking down at the layout. That is an enclosed area that tops out at about 6' high. I will paint the inside areas with fascia green to "hide" them sometime this week.
Pete, amazing landscape work and even more amazing how quickly you are able to do it.

I totally agree with Dave, who explained why Pete's scenery is beautiful. I only knew that it was beautiful and I loved the colors. Arnold
Great showcase. We certainly need to see good stuff to keep us in the right frame of mind.

Excellent craftsmanship this week! The pace many of you take in getting things done at such a high level of quality is impressive.
