I built each of the three models pictured here from the Yard Office laser-cut wood kit #485 by American Model Builders. The prototype was a Boston & Maine Railroad design. The Silvercup Bread and yard office models on my 12’-by-8’ layout were built around 2004. The yard office at the corner of my 10’-by-5’ layout was built around 2018. The quality of the kits and materials was excellent.

I picked this up again and took a big leap with it. It’s a building now. It’s all Downtown Deco, but with modifications.
the wall with the 3 garage doors was built from 4 different sections of wall. The walls with the 3 big windows on the first floor used to have boarded over openings there.  I’ve 3D printed windows to go in there.
This is just the base building, there’s another piece that will get added to the back side, that hasn’t been built yet.

Ive glued a piece of 3/4 plywood on the floor and up the walls to solidify it against being twisted or compressed, and also so when the whole thing gets put in a 1/4” plywood base, I’ve got something to put screws into. The corners are all backed with evergreen rods and epoxy.  I prefer to use white glue to glue the walls to themselves, as you can clean it off and paint over it if it gets on the wall faces. I’d like to put in a basic shadow box interior behind the windows, which is why there’s presently no bracing in the front of the building.

The loading dock wall and the front wall are the Fulton St Fish Market, the wall with the single entry door and the side walls are the front, one side and the back of City View Apartments.  The back of it is 2 and change city view sidewalls, but they’re not from a kit. Randy sells blank wall sets on eBay, and 2 of the 6 walls in there are the same as the City View sides.  So I got 2 sets of 6 to get some extras.
