Thanks Erik.  That makes sense.  I wondered if the truck mounted steps were the same as the body mounted steps.

 

Those D&RGW FT's came out very nice.

The holes are already drilled and threaded and the screws provided with the units.   Like I said somewhere else, issue known, in process, outcome unknown.

In response to questions on the OGR forum, the holes are already drilled and tapped in the frame.  Just email Christopher at Sunset and they will send the steps (4 per unit) and screws.  I removed one truck side frame (3 screws) at a time, cut off the attached step, and attached the new step to the frame.  The steps come in black so I had to paint mine silver.  I sprayed mine Scalecoat Bright Silver which I had on hand and was a good match to my units.   Not difficult, just takes time.
