they are doing a good job of photographing these puppies!
Just Remarkable!
Thanks Rich.
Very Nice, Makes you want to be there, Thanks.
Someone will hopefully snap a photo on Horseshoe Curve with 8102 as the lead unit. Who would have thought? Maybe one next to Bennett Levin's E units..would make for a great then and now photo.
Here's a nice shot at Horseshoe Curve, but it's not the PRR.
I don't much care for modern Diesel power, but that paint job does wonders for this thing!
I think it does wonders as well. Would not know what to do with such brute power. However whoever is shooting it did a very good job.
That thing is a true head turner...
Now they just need to get the NYC unit out of the shops and recreate that famous "Great Race" photo (painting?).
Assuming this is not air brushed or fabricated, this is quite the shot. What little I've tried to get sunset or sundown shots, it was always difficult at best and gone before you realized it, waiting for a better shot. Just beautiful stuff. I hope NS does at least a couple of calenders with these pictures. Past calenders were an exclusive in house photo contest, the few I have were always very well done.
My wife told me I was staring at the photo like it was a centerfold, I said it is!
She said, I guess you will have to buy one like that. I said at least a six pack of them.
She said she is leaving ... again.
Never in a million years would I have thought that NS would do something like this.I thought their execs were too interested in operations and the bottom line than PR.
In my neck of the woods NS is downright aggressive towards railfans, too.
I hope NS does at least a couple of calenders with these pictures.
So do I! I would snap up at least a couple up in a minute. Definitely some beautiful paint schemes they are applying to these various Heritage units.
I'm not a SPF, but THAT is sure a nice looking engine
Any idea how long NS will keep them this way?
I wish they'd do one in N&W "J" livery.

Well, I have laid eyes on the MP Heritage with the 844, and several other units. However these new PRR units and others are a tribute. I don't railfan much at all anymore and when I do it's legally parked with the tripod in the bed of my truck. They are kind of getting tough on the picture takers.
We do have NS engines from time to time come through. I will be on the look out for the PRR unit, but really, doubt; that it will make it into Arkansas.
In model form? Well the B&O set and PRR probably will run over 2K in US dollars, I would wait until it cools off a bit. I would probably need to purchase some UP power as well as not to be railroaded out of the local modular club.
thanka Rich. not a dismal fan, but I like the look.
Sorry Rich I forgot, The P Company ( PENNSY ) fan thanks you for putting this great shot up. it is now my wallpaper on two computer here at home and four tomorrow at work!

Fabulous picture Rich; thanks for posting.
I bet that engine looked great today with the background of today's snowfall between Altoona and Cresson.

The NS calenders consist of photographs taken and submitted by NS employees.
I don't think PRR livery has ever looked better on any locomotive, that's beautiful.

Yes, but they could easily produce a special one-time calendar featuring nothing but these gorgeous photos of their Heritage units. Calendars are very inexpensive and easy to produce, and I imagine they could sell a bundle of them.
Casey Thomason, the NS photographer who has been photographing these new heritage units has had numerous photos appear in NS calendars over the years. He was an NS engineer until last year when they made him the official company photographer.

Thinking down the road, Allan. How about an OGR Calender of all the model Heritage Units. You might even be able to work that into an in-house contest. All we need is the Lionel/MTH models. There are some beautiful layouts out there that these models would look great on.
Mike
This one will be hard to top, I've really grown to like it the more photos I see (Thanks guys!). Can't wait to see the NYC lighting stripe!
