As I am getting back into the hobby and building new benchwork in a new, albeit much smaller layout area, I think I'd like to incorporate Superstreets, even if it takes away from potential RR track areas. I understand Backmann will be making this product later this year, but does anyone know of hobby shops that still stock K-Line or K-Line by Lionel Superstreets including the vehicles? I am mostly interested in the old-time cars and trucks, not the vans and buses. Thanks.

Note that the old K-line and the new Williams road bed are different colours.

Oh no! I really hope this is not the case. How annoying. I have had and used Superstreets since the very first limited release under K-Line that came in the yellow and black before the K-Lionel mess. It has always been the same colors. I have alot of it and will be a bit annoyed if that changes.

Yes, it’s true and in addition to the color being different, the price is different, too, in fact as much as DOUBLE the price of the last Superstreets cataloged by Lionel.  Check previous postings on this subject in a thread on this Forum titled “Williams 2012”.

Prices have increased a lot.  List price on the vehicles and track has roughly doubled.  But typically Bachman products are discounted more then other lines.  I just ordered a bunch of EZ-streets and paid about 33% more.  I guess you can take it or leave it and I went ahead and paid and took it . . .

The road color is different, but that is not a big deal to me . . . .  Road color changes in the real world, too.  I paint all the plastic road surfaces on my Superstreets and I deliberately vary road color, including here: pavement color and texture often changes  abruptly at the city limits, with a change in what juridiction cares for the road.

Thanks for the links, Lee. I noted one shop had a Lionel van for $100. I am not sure if that's the original price or an opportunistic vendor.

If the vehicles were good sellers under K-line than Bachmann should make them all again, and I can wait, no rush, and hopefully they'll make some neat looking old-time cars too. Maybe I'll try to get some original tracks so I can plan.

If you see the step van or panel van in the $100+ price range it is usually the TMCC version: they run around $99-$140. My local LHS has three at $115 and I am not so desperate that I would buy those (I run only conventional), but if you want TMCC they are a good price.

I think Bachman owns the rights/tooling to the vintage truck so I hope they will bring that out soon: I hope so - it is the only one that you can successfully bash into automobiles (all the others have wheels too big).  K-Line also had some early offerings that Lionel never released, including a wrecker and a Camaro body, that Bachman probably owns rights to manufacture.

My experience (limited) is that TMCC boards in both the step van and the early era track inspection vehicle is that the TMCC boards give problems due to overheating.  BTW - the early era inspection vehicle looks like it will run on SS,  but front truck won't turn sharp enough for the curves without modifications).

It is getting difficult to find track, but various places have bits and pieces.  D21 curves were impossible to find but Bachman has released those and they are in stores again - I ordered four full circles of it last Friday.
