Swapping a Lionel Legacy version GP-35 shell?

I don't see why not.  I've looked at the SD80-MAC for this kind of swap, and I didn't see anything limiting it, other than the work involved.

 

Yup no problem. Same frame, same shell. Unscrew swap and re-install screws.

don't forget to swap the light board screwed inside of the powered shell.

There's a number of things you'll want to swap from the powered shell, but it should be a fairly easy exchange.

 

I did the same with the TMCC a H16-44s, Legacy GP7s and Legacy Sharks... You'll have no problem. GRJ is right, just pay attention where everything goes and you should have no problem.

The TMCC a were really a pain, but the Legacy engines were a piece of cake. For them done in a night.

Will be converting the shell on a new Legacy powered GP-35. Have both powered and non-powered versions.
